48 applications submitted to the 3rd call of the EIT HEI Initiative

06/04/2023

We are happy to announce that the EIT HEI Initiative’s third call, which closed on 28 February 2023, has received 48 applications from an impressive total of 518 organisations. This year’s applicants include:

  • 286 higher education institutions (248 full partners and 38 associated partners); and
  • 232 non-academic organisations (96 full partners and 136 associated partners).

As part of this year’s selection criteria, we are looking for projects that build innovation capacity through the integration of deep tech talent-fostering activities. Consortia are also expected to show how their applications align with the Deep Tech Talent Initiative and contribute to deep tech innovation.

With a fairly even distribution of academic and non-academic organisations, the EIT HEI Initiative is determined to achieve its goal of creating synergies between industry and higher education institutions to boost innovation and entrepreneurship in Europe. The consortia cover all EU Member States with 22 eligible countries from the EIT Regional Innovation Scheme, dedicated to closing the innovation gap between countries across Europe. There are also partners from Ukraine, 26 higher education institutions and 11 non-academic organisations.

The winning projects will be announced in May 2023. The EIT HEI Initiative Press release is here.
