Expert Group for supporting ERC applicants (EG)
The Expert Group for supporting European Research Council (ERC) applicants was established in January 2021 based on the Joint Declaration of the Charles University and the Czech Academy of Sciences. It is composed of a coordinator (currently, Prof Zdeněk Strakoš) and 11 members from three scientific domains according to the ERC rules. The objective is to systematically support together with the Technology Centre Prague (TC Prague) ERC grant applicants at national level, therefore it is open to all research institutions in the Czech Republic.
The joint work of the Expert Group and the TC Prague must be complemented by the institutional support. Potential host institutions are supposed to take the responsibility for providing the information and offering at least basic preparation of the applicants.
The reasons for creating such an expert group and particular recommendations to the institutions are formulated in the document "Účast ČR v soutěžích o granty Evropské výzkumné rady (ERC): Strategická doporučení pro podporu žadatelů o granty ERC na institucionální a národní úrovni" written by Z. Čapková, P. Fedorová and Z. Strakoš on 13 May 2020, to be downloaded HERE.
Composition of the Expert Group:
Coordinator: prof. Ing. Zdeněk Strakoš, DrSc., Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Charles University
Coordinators for individual ERC domains:
- Physical Sciences and Engineering (PE): doc. Ing. Pavel Jelínek, Ph.D., Institute of Physics CAS
- Life Sciences (LS): Mgr. Pavel Tomančák, Ph.D., MPI-CBG/CEITEC
- Social Sciences and Humanities (SH): Prof. Matthew Rampley, Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University
Members:
- doc. Mirjam Fried, Ph.D., Faculty of Arts, Charles University
-
prof. PhDr. Tomáš Havránek Ph.D., Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University
- prof. Ing. Michal Hocek, CSc., DSc., Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry CAS and Faculty of Science, Charles University
- prof. Mgr. Michal Koucký, Ph.D., Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Charles University
- prof. RNDr. Vojtěch Novotný, CSc., Biology centre CAS
- prof. Mgr. Pavel Jungwirth, DrSc., Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry CAS
- prof. Tomáš Jungwirth, Ph.D., Institute of Physics CAS
- prof. RNDr. Julius Lukeš, CSc., Biology Centre CAS
(for each of the scientific domains, two members of the EG were nominated, which will enable alternation within a year and avoidance of conflicts of interests related to the involvement in the ERC scientific panels)
