Cluster Culture, creativity and inclusive society aims to strengthen European democratic values, including rule of law and fundamental rights; to safeguard and promote our cultural heritage; and to promote socio-economic transformations that contribute to inclusion and growth.

Cluster 2 mobilises multidisciplinary expertise of European social sciences and humanities for understanding fundamental contemporary transformations of society, economy, politics and culture and providing evidence-based policy options for a socially just and inclusive European green and digital recovery.  A strategic objective is to create a more resilient, inclusive and democratic European society, prepared and responsive to threats and disasters.

The research topics in Cluster 2 address education for democracy, inequalities, migration and inclusion, social innovation and empowering all citizens to act in the green and digital transitions.

Cluster 2 funds activities in three destinations of research:

• Democracy and Governance/DEMOCRACY Calls. Actions in this destination should improve trust in democratic institutions; shield democracy from multidimensional threats; and expand political participation, social dialogue and social inclusion, civic engagement and gender equality.
• European Cultural Heritage and the Cultural and Creative Industries/HERITAGE Calls. Actions in this destination should promote better access and engagement with cultural heritage; improve its protection; and support sustainable growth and job creation through the cultural and creative industries.
• Social and Economic Transformations/TRANSFORMATIONS Calls. Actions in this destination should help tackle social, economic and political inequalities; support human capital development; and help to understand and respond to the impacts of technological advancements and economic interconnectedness with a view to social resilience.
