Recent changes in ERC evaluation: What and why?

22/02/2024

ERC evaluation process has undergone several reforms under the Work Programme 2024. Changes concern, inter alia, the way the PI’s profile is assessed, but also reformulation of questions to evaluate the quality of the proposed project.

ERC President, Prof Maria Leptin, in her report sheds the light on what was the rationale behind the changes adopted by the ERC Scientific Council, and in detail dissects how to understand the new template for the applicant’s CV a track record. She also explains why the famous term ‚high-risk, high-gain‘ has been deleted from the newest Work Programme, or why evaluators are no longer asked to assess the ‚development of novel methodologies‘ in the proposed project.

The report can be found on the ERC website HERE.
